All-Day Cinco de Mayo Celebrations at Caliente Kitchen Delray Beach & Boynton Beach

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: We really, really love Mexican (in case that wasn't already made cystal clear from our Pre-Cinco de Drinko Gab Night Out). We can't resist gas can margaritas, passing around obnoxious oversize sombreros, having the ability to smother just about anything with guacamole...you get the idea.

So, naturally, when it comes to celebrating our favorite things, Gab is going to know where to go for the best Cinco de Mayo party.

Correction: Parties.

Save the date this Cinco De Mayo (Thursday, May 5) for Caliente Kitchen's dual All-Day Cinco de Mayo Celebrations and discover one hot Mexican concept in two awesome locations - Delray Beach and Boynton Beach.

Choose your fiesta: Party at the Caliente Kitchen location you know and love on Atlantic Avenue, or check out Taylor Smith's brand new location in Boynton Beach, which is being officially unveiled to the public on May 5.

Both locations are going to have all-day South-of-the-border festivities, including Caliente's famous Mexican cuisine (if you haven't indulged at Caliente's late night taco window, you haven't lived), drink specials, authentic mariachi bands and live DJs.

Bring the niños to have some fun of their own with slides, obstacle courses, face painting, ice cream trucks, petting zoos, and more.Plus, jam out to live performances by Hot Rod, Making Faces, The Many Ones, Mixed Culture, The Mighty Quinn, and Box of Rocks.

Life Time Athletic "High Octane" Event Brings The Fire

On Friday, April 15, Gab brought plenty of untamed entertainment to Life Time's pool area with "High Octane," a special event for Life Time members and their guests. Partygoers decked out in Spring fashions arrived to the energetic sounds of tribal drummers - and the unmistakable aroma of smoked BBQ.
Smokehouse Grille & Wingery catered the event with their famous wings, pork, turkey, and signature sauces. Guests were also treated to decadent Lollie Bites, because, well, who doesn't love cake on a stick? We even caught a few people stashing extras in their handbags!

The evening's high-energy entertainment kicked off, literally, with a group of capoeira dancers, Afro-Brazilian Martial Arts artists who started the night out with splits, flips and choreographed one-on-one battles. As the sun (and several spiked Tropical Punch cocktails) went down, the night lit up with tribal-inspired fire performances.

Some performances were seductive, some were plain wild, but, judging by the applause, they were crowd-pleasers across the board. When the party ended, guests went home with a souvenir - their bodies etched in intricate tribal tattoos. $5 per person entrance donations benefited the Life Time Fitness Foundation, a 501 c3 foundation supporting healthy kids and healthy communities.

BRLTA Gives Kids A Head Start at Boca Helping Hands Fitness & Nutrition Event

Talk about good for the heart. On Thursday, April 14, the fitness and nutrition team from Boca Raton Life Time Athletic, the area’s premier athletic facility, taught about 40 underprivileged kids the importance of physical fitness and proper nutrition through a fun, hands-on event at Boca Helping Hands, a community-based 501c3 organization that provides food an assistance programs to individuals, families and children. The kids, who ranged from 5 to 10 years old, literally ran off the school bus to attend the event, where they learned fun exercises and the benefits of a proper diet through exercise stations and question-and-answer seminars complete with fresh fruits and veggies.

“These children and families are at the mercy of the donated food they receive” said Jim Gavrilos, the Executive Director of Boca Helping Hands. “So we wanted to show the kids how to make the right decisions by exposing them to the knowledge and amazing personalities of the fitness staff at Life Time. You simply couldn’t buy this interaction, to have someone tell the children, ‘You’re important enough for me to spend time with’ It’s a great thing.”

(T) Tom Reeves, Pat Vitale, Jojo Nicholson, Tanya Oliver, Mia Gatzala, Jason Gann, Jim Gavrilos
(B) Chris LaRocca, Sherry Hoffman, Jay Stein, Gabe Gabrielsen

Despite the light drizzle, the children worked up a sweat for 7 to 8 minutes at each outdoor fitness station, where personal trainers had the kids lifting backpacks, doing dips, mountain climbers and jumping jacks, and, most importantly, laughing nonstop. Inside, fresh fruit and vegetables were served as nutritionists educated the kids on keeping hydrated, avoiding excess sugar and salt, and opting for whole foods over processed snacks.
“I don’t know what these kids have going on in their life, what they have to deal with at home,” says Jason Gann, PT Department Head at Life Time Athletic. “I do know that right now, in this moment, all I see are smiling faces. That’s what we wanted, to teach kids that fitness is fun and that you can use exercise as a form of stress relief rather than turning to drugs or alcohol. I have a feeling this is the beginning of many partnerships between Life Time Athletic and Boca Helping Hands.”
The mission of Boca Helping Hands is to provide compassionate service through food and assistance programs to individuals, families, and children to instill dignity and break the cycle of dependence. They feature hot meals six days a week, a resource center, job mentoring, and children’s assistance. For more information, visit http://www.bocahelpinghands.org/.

Butlers in the Buff Take Over the Gab Office

Our system server was down today, but that didn't matter once we got a visit from a...different...type of server.

Two Butlers in the Buff, Billy and Shane, stopped by the Gab office for a quick video shoot (We're in the process of pitching Butlers in the Buff to a slew of morning shows - talk about a pick-me-up.)

We held the shoot in semi-privacy, but still caught some coworkers sneaking glances on their way to the water cooler. It's not every day you have a bare-bootied Butler chilling in the conference room, after all.
